• Spelling
• Understanding common grammar rules and concepts
• Telling stories or providing explanations
• Pronouncing words with three or more syllables

Speech pathology may also benefit your child if he or she: 

• Is not reading at an expected grade level or struggles with fluency
• Lacks essential spelling strategies
• Fails to quickly get the main idea or concepts of a passage

• Screening and/or assessment to evaluate your child’s current skills and challenges
• Working with parents, children and school teachers to improve language development
• Teaching your child to recognise the sounds in words (phonics)
• Teaching effective comprehension strategies to improve reading skills
